For the 2025-2026 school year, MCPS and MCEA would like to recognize as many of our exceptional teachers as possible. To do this, we have expanded the “Teacher of the Year” awards. Each school will nominate their own Teacher of the Year who will go on as a nominee for the MCPS Teacher of the Year award. MCPS Teacher of the Year nominees will be evaluated based on this rubric and then selected by a judging panel composed of MCPS and MCEA representatives.

Each school will select their own Teacher of the Year. Schools will have a nominating committee composed of the School Principal, Head Building Rep and Elected Faculty Representative or designee(s). If you are part of your school’s nominating committee, please fill out this form to ensure you receive all Teacher of the Year related communications.

School Teacher of the Year Nomination Period: 10/22/2025 – 11/20/2025.
(Dates can be adjusted at the discretion of the school nomination committee; however, the Teacher of the Year should be selected by 11/30/2025) -
Eligibility: MCPS teachers with at least six years of experience, at least three of which with MCPS. Full eligibility information can be found on page 6 of the program document.

Deadline: Names of all MCPS Teacher of the Year nominations must be received by Mai Lien Le ([email protected]) by December 1, 2025 in order to confirm eligibility prior to notifying the school recipient. Completed applications must be submitted online by December 15, 2025.
