Senator Ben Kramer (D) 


State senator since 2019 and majority leader. Kramer has represented District 19 since January 2019 and serves as Senate majority leader. 

  • Serves on Finance and Protocol committees. He sits on the Senate Finance Committee and the Protocol Committee. 
  • Chairs Unemployment Insurance Oversight. Kramer is Senate chair of the Joint Committee on Unemployment Insurance Oversight. 
  • Chair of Montgomery County delegation. He has chaired the Montgomery County Delegation since 2021. 
  • Primary sponsor of SB1058 (Educate to Stop the Hate Act). Kramer introduced the bill requiring anti‑hate and Holocaust education standards and permitting the State Board to withhold funds from noncompliant boards. 
  • Advocate for consumer protection and K‑12 funding. He participates in the Latino, Veterans and Jewish caucuses and champions funding for public schools and the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.
