Saturday, May 2: Postcard Party

✉️ Join us for a postcard-writing party at MCEA (12 Taft Court, Rockville, MD 20850) from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm in Room 104.  We’re filling out as many postcards as we can to hand deliver to the County Council on Friday.

Can’t join the party at MCEA? That’s OK! You can hold your own postcard party! Please email [email protected] for postcards.

Monday, May 4: Worksite Sticker-ups & Virtual Townhall

🏫Worksite Sticker-Up Action: On Monday, 5/4, wear your MCEA union sticker (ask your building rep for your sticker). Take a group photo of you and your colleagues wearing your sticker and send it to your UniServ Director. This action will demonstrate our shared commitment to fully funding our contract and our schools.

🏛️Virtual Town Hall: On Monday, 5/4, at 6:00 pm, we’re holding an emergency all-member town hall to provide a budget update and discuss the strategies we are taking to fund our salary increases and COLAs, as well as our schools. We will also discuss the actions we’re taking next week to increase pressure on the County Council to fund MCPS and our contract. Check your email for the Zoom link to register.

Tuesday, May 5: Call Your Council Member

📱We’re calling Montgomery County Councilmembers to ask them to commit to fully funding our salary increase and COLAs, which are part of our negotiated contract. Check your email for calling instructions.

Wednesday, May 6: Rally on Rockville Pike

🪧We are meeting at 5 pm at the Executive Office Building Cafeteria (101 Monroe St, Rockville, MD 20850) for our monthly Representative Assembly (RA). After the RA, we will rally on Rockville Pike with signs to raise public awareness of the need to fund next year’s school budget.

Thursday, May 7: Worksite Walk-ins & Walk-outs

✊🏽We are holding worksite walk-ins and/or walk-outs to continue to demonstrate our public commitment to our schools and one another.

This is how a walk-in works: meet your colleagues 10 minutes before the duty day, wearing red, at a specified location outside your worksite. Take a group photo (send that photo to your UniServ Director). Walk into your worksite together, and then disperse! It’s easy as 1, 2, 3.

A walk-out is similar, but you’ll meet at the end of the duty day at a specified location inside your worksite, take a photo, and walk out together – and disperse.

Friday, May 8: County Council Postcard Delivery

đźšš Now that we’ve filled out thousands of postcards…we need to give them to the County Council! Postcard delivery details are forthcoming. Stay tuned!
