MCEA ELECTIONS & NOMINATIONS

An active MCEA member in good standing may run for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Elementary School Director, Middle School Director, High School Director, and MCEA Delegates to the NEA Representative Assembly and/or MSEA Representative Assembly. Candidates for office may also run for MCEA Delegates to the NEA RA and/or MSEA RA.  

Officers and Directors

The term for the Officer and Director positions is from 7/1/2027 – 6/20/2030.

NEA/MSEA Delegates

The NEA Representative Assembly will be held in Indianapolis, IN on June 30 – July 4, 2027. 

The MSEA Representative Assembly will be held in Ocean City, MD in mid-October 2027 (exact dates TBD). 

Please note, being elected as an MCEA Delegate to the NEA RA does not guarantee MCEA funding. We are using a point system for NEA RA delegates to qualify for MCEA stipends. Members earn points for different union activities, with at least one “Power+” activity required to reach higher stipend tiers. You can view the full MCEA NEA Convention Funding Point System here.

Important Dates for 2027 MCEA Elections 

  • September 30: Nomination Form for MCEA Officers, Directors and Delegates Open 
  • November 4: November RA – NEA/MSEA candidates invited to speak at RA 
  • December 9: December RA – MCEA Officer and Director candidates invited to speak at RA 
  • November 20: Deadline for receipt of all nomination forms, bios and photos due to MCEA via the MCEA nominations form 
  • January 25: Voting begins at 9 AM 
  • February 12: Voting ends at 5 PM 

If necessary, a run-off election will be held February 22 – March 5, 2027. 

MCEA Elections Nomination Form

MCEA Officer and Director candidates that are determined as eligible will be invited to speak at the December RA on Wednesday, December 9, 2026. 

2027 MSEA Elections 

The Maryland State Education Association (MSEA) is hosting their elections during the same time as our MCEA Elections. Active MSEA members may run for President (1), Vice President (1), NEA Director (1), MSEA At-Large Board of Directors (2), and State Delegates to the NEA RA. Retired members may run for the Retired Advisory Council (3) and Retired State Delegates to the NEA RA. Aspiring Educators may run for a delegate position to the NEA RA. The NEA RA will take place in Indianapolis, IN on June 30 – July 4, 2027. 

MSEA Elections Nomination Form

If you plan to run in the MSEA elections held in January 2027 for a board or director position and would like to speak (or submit a video) at the MCEA November RA, you must email [email protected] and submit your nomination form to MSEA by  Friday, October 23, 2026. You will be contacted the following week to confirm your speaking slot at the MCEA November RA on November 11, 2026.  

Members may run as both an MCEA and State Delegate for the NEA RA; however, you may only receive a stipend from one organization.
