Action in Montgomery – ACTION

We are joining Action in Montgomery (http://actioninmontgomery.org/) by taking part in an Action on December 9th, 2015 at St. Camillus Church (1600 St Camillus Dr, Silver Spring, MD 20903) from 7-9 pm – see the attached flyers for more details.

What is an Action?

An action is a show of power and unity. MCEA along with numerous faith based organizations and non-profits will stand united to demand ACTION from our County leaders.

What demands will be presented?

$54 Million to increase Affordable Housing in the County

o   How many of our students live under one roof with two or three other families?

25% of new housing units built in the new Westbard Sector Plan must be set aside for affordable and workforce housing

o   The rent is too high for Montgomery Teachers, Police and Firefighters.

$1.5 Million for after school programs

o   After school programs that work to organize parents and connect them with resources in their child’s school. We all want and need more parental involvement in our schools.

An ACTION requires people. Organized people. We have committed to bringing 250 of our members, supporters and friends to St. Camillus Church on December 9th from 7-9 pm.
