Anika Lovelace is a 28-year veteran educator who currently teaches science at Northwest High School. She has taught a range of science courses at all secondary levels. Teaching her favorite course, Anatomy and Physiology, quenches her love for the biomedical field. Her main goal is to make the biomedical sciences accessible and attainable for all students (especially those groups who are currently underrepresented in the field).
In addition to teaching, she has developed a passion for advocating for educators. She has served as an Elected Faculty Representative for six years, creating more effective communication between faculty and the administrative team. She continues to bring all teachers’ voices to the table where all levels of state, county, and school-based leadership are making pivotal decisions.
As the at-large director, she pledges to continue learning from and serving teachers at all grade levels and worksites.
In her spare time, Anika binges 80’s music and sit-coms with her family, cooking one-pot wonders (meals that can be prepared using only one pot or pan), and enjoys practicing yoga and pilates.
