16 Races. 1 Future. Our Schools, Our Students, Our Time.

Elections 2026

Our schools are at stake in 2026.

16 local primaries for County Executive (1), County Council (11), and Board of Education (4) will be held on June 23, 2026, which could determine who has the power to:

  • Fund our schools and students.
  • Fund our salary increases, cost of living adjustments, and future collective bargaining agreements.
  • Prioritize – or not – our students and our profession.

Why should it matter to you?

These races may not be on cable news, but they will decide your paycheck and your classroom conditions. If we sit this out, we risk:

  • Flat funding for overcrowded classrooms.
  • Stalled contract negotiations.
  • Elected leaders who won’t stand with educators and students.

What can you do?

You can show up by talking to your coworkers, calling members asking them to vote for our Apple Ballot-endorsed candidates, and joining our PAC drive by contributing at least $1 per pay period (if you already contribute, increase your biweekly contribution by $1). Additionally:

  • Attend a virtual town hall on our political agenda for 2026 and beyond (date TBD).
  • Join MCEA’s election interview team, which interviews candidates being considered for the Apple Ballot.
  • Volunteer for one (1) Apple Ballot shift during the General Election on June 23, 2026.
