Kathryn Spivey is starting her 41st year of teaching overall and her 19th year with MCPS. She has taught everything from elementary school to high school during her career. This is her first year on the board of directors and she looks forward to learning more about how to support the teachers in MCPS. She has served as a content specialist and a team leader in three different middle schools in MCPS. She has taught math, world studies, reading, and science during her time in MCPS.
When she is not working with her students and their caregivers, she enjoys reading – mysteries and biographies and traveling. She has shared her love of travel with students by taking them to Peru, Florida, and Costa Rica. She travels with her own adult children to different countries as well. She looks forward to continuing her professional learning this year through the changes in MCPS.
