Senator Jeff  Waldstreicher (D) 


Senator since 2019 and committee vice‑chair. Waldstreicher has represented District 18 since 2019 and serves as vice‑chair of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee. 

  • Chairs administrative and legislative review committees. He chairs the Joint Committee on Administrative, Executive & Legislative Review and the Joint Federal Relations Committee. 
  • Former delegate and committee leader. Waldstreicher served in the House of Delegates from 2007 to 2019, where he chaired the Special Committee on Drug & Alcohol Abuse. 
  • Co‑sponsor of SB0130 on student device policies. He co‑sponsored legislation requiring county boards to adopt guidelines limiting student personal electronic device use. 
  • Co‑sponsor of SB1058 requiring anti‑hate curriculum. Waldstreicher supported the Educate to Stop the Hate Act mandating anti‑hate and Holocaust education standards. 
  • Member of multiple caucuses and champion of civil liberties. He participates in the Legislative Black, Latino and Jewish caucuses and advocates for civil liberties and criminal justice reform.
