Senator Nancy King (D) 


Senator since 2007 and majority leader. King has represented District 39 since 2007 and became Senate majority leader in 2020. 

  • Member of Budget & Taxation Committee and subcommittee chair. She serves on the Budget & Taxation Committee, chairing subcommittees on education and capital budgeting and serving on the Procurement Subcommittee. 
  • Former chair of children and gaming committees. King previously chaired the Joint Committee on Children, Youth & Families and the Joint Committee on Gaming Oversight. 
  • Serves on multiple policy committees. She sits on the Joint Committee on Legislative Ethics, the Spending Affordability Committee, the Executive Nominations Committee, the Rules Committee and the Legislative Policy Committee. 
  • Co‑sponsor of SB1058 (Educate to Stop the Hate Act). King supported the act requiring anti‑hate and Holocaust curriculum standards and permitting funding penalties. 
  • Advocate for education funding and early childhood programs. A former board of education member, she champions public school funding, pre‑kindergarten expansion and early childhood initiatives.
